Prayer

What is prayer?

As Billy Graham once said, “Prayer is spiritual communication between man and God, a two-way relationship in which man should not only talk to God but also listen to Him.”

Prayer is a personal relationship with God where we can communicate anything to God, worship God and seek his face, knowing that He hears our every word. In other words, it is our direct line with heaven. God loves us unconditionally and as He hears your prayer, whether it be to pray for someone, something, or just to have a conversation with Him. God will respond to your prayer, although not always in a manner we may expect or desire. God answers prayers in His time, not ours. He has a plan for you and for me!

Prayer is important in our everyday lives. It is not complicated, just a simple conversation with God. We must pray often and regularly with a humble heart in order that we can and should realize our dependence on God in every aspect of our daily lives.

As you read the Bible, there are many promises in God’s Word that encourage us to pray. Psalm 91:15 says “He shall call upon me and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.” In Isaiah 65:24 God says that “Before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.” Ephesians 6:18 says “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.” Finally, 1 Thessalonians 5:17 says to “Pray continually.”

So, when you pray, pray for each other, pray with faith, worship and reverence.
